The menu is broad enough to satisfy more than just traditional fish-and-chip cravings. The Fisherman’s Basket is another appealing option for diners who prefer variety. Combining different seafood components into one generous meal, it captures the casual sharing spirit that works especially well beside the beach. Calamari is also frequently mentioned by customers, while the beer-battered chips have attracted praise for their crisp texture. Reviews describe portions as generous, with one diner noting that the serving was large enough that they could not finish all the chips and salad.
Fresh seafood remains the central attraction, but Sylvan Beach Seafood Cafe also offers house-style burgers, coffee, hot chocolate, milkshakes, and lighter salad options. Recent specials have included grilled salmon with chips and salad for A$24, providing an alternative for diners who prefer grilled seafood over battered fish. Typical spending falls roughly in the A$20–A$40 range per person, although smaller meals and specials can cost less.
The atmosphere is one of the cafe’s biggest strengths. Outdoor seating allows guests to eat near the water, and recent updates confirm that waterfront outdoor dining has returned. Customer reviews regularly mention the beachside location, friendly staff, short waits, and scenic views. One visitor described it as a “great spot for lunch,” while another praised the fish and chips as among the best they had tried on the island.
Practical amenities include outdoor seating, takeaway, reservations, parking, wheelchair accessibility, television, and card payments. The cafe is also licensed, adding another option for adults enjoying a leisurely waterfront meal.
Among the best restaurants in Bellara for casual seafood and local dining experiences, Sylvan Beach Seafood Cafe stands out for its location, broad seafood menu, and relaxed coastal character. Purchased the Captain Cook burger which came with a plate of chips and a couple of drinks cost $45 and was absolutely delicious. I could not fault any of the food not to mention. We were the last ones to be served at 6:30 at night service was exceptional. Very friendly and polite and no rush to kick us out. I will definitely be back to try the fish.
What a jewel on the Bribie Passage. Just five minutes from the end of the bridge at Sylvan Beach, is the cosy sea food cafe. Very fresh food well cooked and generous portions served. Choose your white or red wine or a beer to go with your meal. Yes they are licenced. There is a besutiful panorama of the Passage. Looking SE to the bridge and NW to the Glasshouse Mountains. Lovely yachts and cruisers moored nearby. Select some of the paintings for sale to support local artists. A great day.
As a family, due to so many odd work schedules, we are unable to get together often. A minor miracle happened and we were all able to gather but it happened with very short notice. Rang Sylvan Beach to see if they could accommodate 11 people for take away but eat outside. Not only could they, but they very kindly put us in the restaurant part. Food was lovely, thank you to the cook, but the two women who looked after us were magnificent and so kind. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble which made the experience even better. I wish I knew their names but thank you so much for your kindness. You made a family gathering so enjoyable.
